What we collect when you make a Will with us, why we need it, and what we will never do with it.

Last updated: 10 September 2026

In short: we collect what we need to draft your Will and nothing more. We never sell your data. Details of your family and assets are seen only by the team member handling your document.

1. Who is responsible for your data

[LEGAL ENTITY NAME], of [FULL REGISTERED ADDRESS], is the data fiduciary responsible for the personal data you provide through willsetu.com. Contact: hello@willsetu.com.

3. Where your draft is stored while you work on it

While you are completing the will builder, your answers are saved in your own browser's local storage against a private reference ID so you can leave and return. This data stays on your device until you clear it or your browser clears it. If you use the resume link, anyone with that link and access to that browser can see the draft — treat it as private.

4. How we use your data

  • To prepare, review and deliver your Will
  • To arrange notarisation or registration on your behalf
  • To contact you about your order and respond to your questions
  • To meet legal, accounting and tax obligations

We do not use the contents of your Will for marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making.

5. Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with:

  • Notaries and Sub-Registrar offices — only what is required to complete notarisation or registration
  • Razorpay — our payment processor, for processing your payment
  • Professional advisers — where a package includes review by an independent advocate
  • Authorities — where we are required by law to do so

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

6. How long we keep it

We retain your order records and the documents we prepared for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations, and then delete or anonymise them. You may ask us to delete your data sooner (see below), subject to any records we must retain by law.

7. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restrict access to your file to the team members working on it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

8. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may ask us to:

  • Confirm what personal data we hold about you and obtain a copy
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Erase your data where we no longer need it
  • Withdraw consent for processing (this may mean we can no longer provide the service)
  • Nominate another person to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity

Write to hello@willsetu.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Cookies

We use only what is necessary to make the site work, together with your browser's local storage to save your draft. We do not run advertising cookies. If we add analytics in future, this page will be updated first.

10. Children

Our service is intended for adults of 18 years or older who are competent to make a Will. We do not knowingly collect data from children except where a child is named as a beneficiary or dependant by an adult user.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above will always reflect the current version.
